How is this group shipping different from EZship?
This group is cater entirely for friends staying in Serangoon. The consolidated shipment provides a better rate as we are shipping together in a higher volume. There is also less constraint in the collection timing. Shipment is easier to coordinate because we have direct communication access to the shipper.
Is it worth joining if I only buy little stuffs?
The minimum shipping cost charge is about $1+, which is 0.01cbm (roughly 20 x 20 x 25cm in size). If you are buying a small cup that has a size of less than this, you will still pay this $1+. Most of the time, we easily buy things that consolidate to more than 0.01cbm.
What do most people buy for their group shipping?
Household expenditure stuffs, snacks, furniture, gym stuffs. To help the community with some of the stuffs we buy from Taobao, I have created a page to share all the cheap and good stuffs that we may commonly use. Click here for the Taobao stores. We can update the list to share with one another.
How to settle the shipment payment?
When the goods are ready to be shipped, the shipper will have a list of our packages from the Google Sheet that we submitted. The shipper will measure our final consolidated package size. Before the last mile delivery to our place, they will list out individually the cbm size, the shipping cost and the GST that we need to pay for our shipment lot. This list will be posted by the admin. Everyone will pay their share to the admin. The admin will collect from everyone, and make payment to the shipper. Can I buy from any other platform other than Taobao?
Yes, you can. As long as your seller or factory is able to deliver their goods to the warehouse address. It is no difference from Taobao. Our group shipping name Taobao because most of us are familiar buying from Taobao and shipping over.
Do I need to register myself to start shipping in this group?
You don’t have to register. As long as you get the seller to deliver to the warehouse address (following our written instruction to include your name), and update the Google Sheet, will do. It will be best to leave down your contact number on Google Sheet in case we need to contact you urgently. Some people may not want to, for their privacy issue. We will respect their privacy.
In case of any lost item, what is the compensation?
This can be split into 3 part. Shipment from seller to warehouse, warehouse to Serangoon home, and collection from the home.
The warehouse will compensate if the parcel got lost within their warehouse. It will be compensated to the value that is declared on the Google Sheet.
I have lost parcel, but is usually happens before it reaches the warehouse. For this situation, what I did was to communicate to the seller. The seller re-send a new parcel to me. Not all seller will be nice to due with. But in general, most seller are quite nice. To want to do long term business, and also not want to receive poor rating on their Taobao store. They are usually reasonable.
The only part which I am concern is during the parcel collection….. All parcels will be laid outside the house for self collection. There will be no one to look after the goods. So there is this possibility of stolen goods. It is best to collect your own shipment as soon as the shipment arrived. Don’t leave it uncollected for too long.
So there is this little risk here that we are not able to ensure.
Photos of the packages delivered will be taken and posted onto the chat group. You will have an idea how your packages will be like before coming to collect.
My item got damaged. How to handle this situation?
The liability of damaged goods will be on the seller.
Seller has to ensure that the goods are properly packed and protected before the shipment. Most seller are reasonable and nice people. You have to communicate with them to resolve this issue. If goods are fragile or big, do remind them to do proper packaging to protect the goods.
You can also let them know that the items are to be shipped via air/ship. This will give them a better idea, and they can help to pack properly to ensure sufficient protection. Some experience seller can tell when they see the shipping address, and they will pack accordingly.
How long can I keep my parcel at China warehouse?
There is no restriction as for now. Sometimes we do store there for 1 to 2 weeks. They will clear the warehouse annually.
So unidentified parcel will be cleared annually too.
